ABSTRACT

This note analyses the data from laboratories taking part in an international co-operative research programme studying the early stages of fire spread in a compartment particularly the effects of 8 factors, comprising parameters of the compartment, fuel and ignition. All factors except the shape of compartment are statistically significant. The contribution of wall linings is greatest when ignition is in a corner and the ventilation opening large.
