ON THE HEIGHTS OF BUOYANT FLAMES

Thomas, P.H., 1961. ON THE HEIGHTS OF BUOYANT FLAMES. Fire Research Notes 489

ABSTRACT

Yokoi has recently reported extensive data on the temperature distribution in hot gases rising vertically or ejected horizontally from vertical windows and has used the distance at which a certain temperature (500C) is reached as a criterion for the flame length. Thomas has measured flame length directly for some similar situations and the two types of correlation are compared and discussed.
