THE ASSESSMENT OF SMOKE PRODUCTION BY BULDING MATERIALS IN FIRES 2. TEST METHOD BASED ON SMOKE ACCUMULATION IN A COMPARTMENT

Bowes, P.C. and Field, P., 1969. THE ASSESSMENT OF SMOKE PRODUCTION BY BULDING MATERIALS IN FIRES 2. TEST METHOD BASED ON SMOKE ACCUMULATION IN A COMPARTMENT. Fire Research Notes 749

ABSTRACT

The measurement of the optical density of smoke produced by materials under test in the Fire Propagation Test Apparatus, and allowed to accumulate in a relatively large closed compartment, has been studied as a possible standard test for smoke production by building materials. It is concluded that the procedure is suitable as a routine adjunct, to the Fire Propagation Test without modification to the apparatus.
