THE ASSESSMENT OF SMOKE PRODUCTION BY BUILDING MATERIALS IN FIRES 3. THE EFFECT OF RELATIVE HUMIDITY ON MEASUREMENTS OF SMOKE DENSITY

Bowes, P.C., Field, P. and Ramachandran, G., 1969. THE ASSESSMENT OF SMOKE PRODUCTION BY BUILDING MATERIALS IN FIRES 3. THE EFFECT OF RELATIVE HUMIDITY ON MEASUREMENTS OF SMOKE DENSITY. Fire Research Notes 775

ABSTRACT

It has been shown that the relative humidity of the ambient atmosphere can sometimes affect significantly the optical density of the smoke produced by materials in the fire propagation test apparatus. Some control of the relative humidity in the test chamber will be necessary for the purposes of a standard test for smoke production.
