The Communications and Outreach Subcommittee of the IAFSS is in charge of several initiatives, including the IAFSS website, newsletter, federated search, social medias (Twitter, YouTube Channels, LinkedIn etc.).

DEI
The role of the DEI SC is to support the IAFSS goal of being a diverse and inclusive professional society with equitable treatment of all its members and all other entities with which the IAFSS interacts during any of its activities regardless of ethnicity, race, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, social class, abilities, religious values, political viewpoints, national origin.
Early Career
Early Career
IAFSS is committed to focusing on the needs of our Early Career Members. This committee engages these global members with the fire safety community to facilitate funding opportunities and promote travel and lab exchanges. Plans also include organizing an IAFSS summer school to further integrate and educate these members.
The IAFSS define ECRP to be persons who are not more than seven (7) years from the date of award of the Ph.D. or highest terminal degree received.

The Education Subcommittee of the IAFSS helps to coordinate educational tools for fire science education internationally.
Research
Research
The Research Committee aims to help to shape research directions for the underpinning science of fire safety through identifying knowledge gaps based on the international state of the art, the members’ knowledge and experience, and input from the broader community. It helps to promote best practice in conducting research in fire safety science and engineering. In addition, it assesses the areas which the IAFSS community might focus on to address emerging technologies and threats and the associated impacts on the fire safety landscape.
Executive
Executive
Both the Executive Committee (EC) and the Membership Adivosry Council (MAC) are elected by the membership.
The EC manages the affairs of the IAFSS as per the IAFSS Constitution and Rules.
The MAC advises and make representations to the EC to relevant issues or needs within the regions they represent.

The Governance and Strategic Planning Committee is co-chaired by the IAFSS Chair and one other trustee. Membership in this committee is limited to members of the association leadership. The current co-chairs are Beth Weckman and Brian Meacham.
Finance
Finance
The Finance Committee is chaired by the Honorary Treasurer. Membership in this committee is limited to members of the association leadership. The current chair is Margaret McNamee.
Nominating
Nominating
The Nominating Committee is chaired by the Past Chair of the Association and is composed of members of the Managing Committee and regular members of the Association as selected by the chair. The current chair is Patrick van Hees.
Symposium Planning
Symposium Planning
The Symposium Planning Committee for the 14th IAFSS Symposium is co-chaired by Anna Stec, Naian Lui, and Arnaud Trouvé. In total there are more than 50 members involved in the planning of the symposium and selection of the papers.
